Section 240 of New York State Labor Law, also known as the “Scaffolding Law,” protects the rights of construction workers who suffer a fall or are struck by a falling object. These unique types of cases require careful preparation with settlement as the goal. Judge Baisley and Mr. Titowsky will provide guidance and offer tips on navigating the settlement of these matters.

Mr. Borkowski will provide tips and insights from a litigator and mediator by taking a look behind the scenes of the mediation process with an emphasis on preparation, including pre-mediation discussions, submissions and what a mediator is looking for to facilitate the resolution. This CLE will be presented to the law firm, gartner + bloom.

This Practising Law Institute (PLI) program will focus on the benefits of using Alternative Dispute Resolution and will also address direct comparisons between alternative dispute resolution and court processes.

The presenters will provide their perspectives on the unique concerns in mediating sexual abuse cases, including the determination of value, roles of the parties, assessing liability, evaluating damages, and the importance of selecting the mediator, as well as the ethical considerations for each of these steps and an update on the case law.  

Our esteemed panel of speakers will discuss key issues in dispute resolution, with a focus on how to maximize outcomes, as well as avoid impasse in mediation. Judge Bonina, Judge Skelos and Mr. Borkowski will present best practices to help prevent the mediation from being sabotaged before real negotiations begin, as well as the latest tips and techniques counsel should consider throughout the mediation process.

Our esteemed panel will present an intriguing program to the members of the Suffolk County Bar Association on the growing trend of using ADR in settling matters with an emphasis on personal injury disputes. The Honorable Paul J. Baisley, Jr. (Ret.) and Glenn Sabele, Esq. will provide insights for navigating these claims, as well as offering best practices to maximize the benefits of settling personal injury disputes through alternative dispute resolution.
