JUSTICE JOSEPH J. RISI JOINS NAM PANEL
GARDEN CITY, NY - Honorable Joseph J. Risi, former Queens County Supreme Court Justice and former Supervising Judge of the Civil Court in Queens, has joined NAM (National Arbitration and Mediation) to hear cases throughout the New York metropolitan area and on Long Island.
Justice Risi was first elected as a Civil Court Judge in Queens County in 1988. He became the Supervising Judge of the Civil Court in 1992, before being elected as Supreme Court Justice in Queens County in 1998.

Prior to his election to the bench, Justice Risi served as Counsel to the Appeals Board Department of Labor Division of Employment. He was an Instructor in Legal Education at Brooklyn College's Adult Education Division. He also served as a Law Secretary to Supreme Court Justice Mario J. Carrillo. In addition, Justice Risi was the Director of Community Planning Boards for Queens County and an Aviation Sub-Committee Chairman of the Tri-State Metropolitan Regional Council. He returned to private practice in 1977 for the firm of Risi, Merrill & Santospirito.
Justice Risi prides himself on being a native New Yorker. Born in Long Island City, Queens, he graduated from St. Agnes High School in New York City and received a B.S. degree from St. John's University in 1950 and an L.L.B. degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1953.
